5 questions worth asking your doctor
Bring these to your next visit. Write them down. Don't leave without an answer.
- Do I really still need every medication on my list?
- Could any of these be causing how I've been feeling lately?
- What time of day should I take this — and with or without food?
- Is there a cheaper version that works just as well?
- What should I do if I miss a dose?
Often blamed on age — but worth a second look
Sometimes what feels like "just aging" is actually a side effect from a medication. If any of these have shown up or gotten worse recently, talk to your pharmacist.
Feeling dizzy when standing up
Trouble sleeping
Memory lapses or confusion
Constant fatigue
Constipation
Loss of appetite
Falls or near-falls
Unusual mood changes
When to call your pharmacist
Calling is free. We'd rather hear from you ten times for nothing than miss the one call that mattered.
- You started a new medication and feel "off" — dizzy, nauseous, foggy, or extra tired.
- You're not sure if two medications you take are safe together.
- You missed a dose and don't know if you should take it now or wait.
- Your pills look different from last month and you want to confirm they're right.
- You're having trouble affording a prescription.
- You just want to talk through your medication list with someone who knows.
4 simple ways to stay steady on your feet
Falls are the leading cause of senior hospitalizations. Most are preventable.
- Stand up slowly. Pause for a few seconds before walking, especially after sitting or lying down.
- Light up your home. Add nightlights in hallways and bathrooms. Most falls happen during nighttime bathroom trips.
- Wear shoes indoors. Slippery socks and bare feet on smooth floors are a hidden hazard. Sturdy slippers with grip help.
- Get your medications reviewed. Some combinations make you more unsteady than you realize. We can check this for you, for free.
